Great Backyard Bird Count

The Great Backyard Bird Count... did you count your birds? We did.
Today we counted the following birds: American Robin, Dark-Eyed Junco, American Goldfinch (76 at once!!!), European Starling, Downy Woodpecker, Tufted Titmouse, Cardinal, Purple Finch, Blue Jay, and Red-Shouldered Hawk. We even went for a drive and saw many Bald Eagles. It was a great time.
The bird feeder pics were taken in our backyard. The eagle pics were taken in Stella, MO today on our drive.

Geocaching, February 13, 2010

We recently started geocaching and what fun it is! Here we are with our first geocache. It was hidden outside a cave, on the side of a steep hill, in Joplin, MO.

The second cache we found that day was hidden in a shotgun shell. BANG! was the clue. Ben found it and was very happy.

Go to www.geocaching.com for more information.

Spring 2009 at the Sheafer's

These were taken in our yard in the spring of 2009: dove eggs, robin eggs, and peonie.

Mourning Dove

This dove was such a good mama. We loved watching her care for her little ones.

Spring and the kiddos

Our yard was so beautiful... the kids are pretty amazing too!

Letterboxing 2005

We spent the summer of 2005 letterboxing. Here the kids are finding the box hidden in an old stone fence.
Visit letterboxing.org for more information about this fun activity.

Our Favorite Tree

The picture you see on the top of the page was taken in Olathe, Kansas at Mahaffie Park. This is the greatest tree for climbing and exploring. If you live in Olathe...visit the tree every season.
